Opto Acoustic Alarm

32 Tones and More

There are 32 permanently programmed tones in the device for free selection. It is also possible to define additional tones individually and save them in the device. Depending on the application and installation, two of the tones are assigned to the control signals Tone_1 and Tone_2, which sound accordingly when an alarm is triggered. In addition, each of the stored tones can be triggered at the desired volume and playing time using appropriate control commands via one of the communication interfaces (Wired-Link or NFC).

Sound Pressure Level (SPL)

The sound pressure level (SPL) of the siren is measured in dB(A). The SPL can be freely adjusted between 0 and 110 dB(A) using certain configuration commands. Three settings are of particular importance:

  1. Sound is switched off – to signal visually only
  2. The volume of 100 dB(A) – to set a standard-compliant volume with lower power consumption
  3. The maximum volume of up to 110 dB(A) – if power consumption is not a criterion

Red Signaling LEDs

The visual signaling has been implemented with highly efficient LEDs in the device. Six powerful red LEDs with the focus for visual alerting are arranged in the housing in such a way that they achieve the widest possible beam angle of over 150°.

The signaling mode of the LEDs can be freely set via configuration commands. The blink period, the ratio of on and off duration in one period, single or double blink mode and brightness control are available for setting. To simplify configuration, four standardized flashing and strobe settings are stored in the device and can be selected.

Warm-White Lighting

Six powerful LEDs as light sources produce a warm-white dimmable light with a beam angle of 150°. The combined brightness of the lights reaches 415 lumens, which is equivalent to a 40W lamp.

NFC-Interface

The device can be fully configured wirelessly via the near-field communication interface. It is irrelevant whether the device is still in its packaging or already installed.

The NFC WiFi Bridge handheld accessory can be used to configure the device or retrieve it’s configuration settings, including further information such as the device serial number. The handheld device forms a connection between a web browser and the device, to set any configuration data or retrieve any device information.

Data exchange via the NFC interface is secure and can only take place if authentication has been successful.

External Power

Depending on the variant, it is possible to connect an additional power source to the device. This is required if a control center cannot supply the necessary power. Particularly if the device is to reach the maximum SPL of 110 dB or the maximum illumination of 415 lumens, attention must be paid to whether the control unit can supply the required power or not. An external power source can help here. In addition, in an installation with several devices in a chain, all devices can be supplied via one or more external power sources.

Current Limit

The maximum current consumption of the device is limited and can be freely set from 25 mA to almost 1000 mA. The standard setting is 50 mA. An active electronic circuit guarantees that the set current value is never exceeded when switching on or during operation. This means that the device can be easily adapted and operated on the outputs of alarm or fire alarm systems.

Manual Switch / Push-Button

The O2A-Basic and O2A-Pro variants allow a switch or push-button to be connected to the device. Depending on requirements, certain actions can be triggered by the switch. You can specify whether the action should apply to the local device, to a specific device in the chain or to all devices in the chain. In addition, various actions can be defined for short, long or a number of switch operations. Examples include reducing the alarm volume, stopping signaling, system test, lighting on, arming the alarm, triggering the doorbell, etc.

Extensions

Existing modules as well as customer-specific modules can be connected to the device via an expansion interface to extend the technical functionality of the system. These include WiFi, BLE, Z-Wave, LoRa or other modules. This not only guarantees the possibility of integration into existing systems, but also allows the user to implement individual control systems.

Operating Modes & Configurations

The device offers a wide range of configuration options and can therefore be used for a wide variety of applications. Certain applications require special settings in the device. It is therefore possible to configure the device extensively via one of the communication interfaces (Wired-Link or NFC).

The device has a sophisticated communication protocol that can be used to configure it at any time. If several devices are connected together in a chain, individual or group configurations can be carried out. Configurations can be saved temporarily (until the next restart) or permanently in the device.

Replaceable Battery

The O2A-Pro has a 3.7V / 2600mAh Lit-Ion battery to supply the device with power for a sufficiently long time. Of course, the operating time is heavily dependent on the application. However, with around 10Wh of stored energy, many applications can be realized. The device charges the battery automatically and ensures a long battery life.

Integrated Energy Storage (SuperCAP)

The O2A-SuperCAP has special permanently installed storage capacitors (SuperCAP)that enable alarms to be triggered for up to 3 minutes even without operating voltage. Special charging techniques guarantee a long service life for the energy cells. Together with specific measures that have been taken in the electronics of the device, a service life of at least 10 years is guaranteed. The charging logic of the storage capacitors has two operating modes: fast or slow charging. Depending on the energy available at the input, the appropriate charging logic is set automatically.

Communication Protocol

The device has its own communication protocol, which can be used to fully configure, control and monitor the device. This protocol is freely available and guarantees that the device can be integrated into all existing systems. Using the WiFi add-on module and the JSON interface with web sockets, HTTP and HTTPS protocols, nothing stands in the way of connecting the device in all environments.

Protection

The device is protected against short circuits, overvoltage or undervoltage, noise signals or reversed voltage connections at the input. An automatically resetting internal fuse disconnects the circuit from the input in the event of a fault. Once the fault has been rectified, the internal polyswitch fuse automatically switches back to its normal state after some time.

Access & Security

Access to the device can be encrypted and secured. Thanks to specially developed software, communication offers the necessary security to prevent unauthorized takeover and control of the device.

Logging

Depending on the variant, the device allows different types of event logging. The simplest logging type is the enumeration of certain events, such as how often alarm #1 or #2 was triggered or how many errors or warnings occurred. The O2A-Pro variant is also able to record events chronologically with corresponding times and record a history of activities.
